STAGE 1Site & acquisition
Island identification and due diligence: the true condition of the asset — bathymetry, marine infrastructure, real capex — established before terms are agreed.

Barlovento is a Maldives-established maritime firm serving international investors, owners, institutions and contractors — four specialised practices, international standards, one counterpart — from feasibility and survey to the execution of dredging and marine works, across the full archipelago.
The market we work in
International capital arrives in the Maldives with committee-grade requirements. The country answers with 26 atolls, roughly 1,190 islands, thin public data, and execution spread across 900 kilometres of ocean.
Projects here rarely fail for lack of ambition. They fail on execution — the unmeasured lagoon, the unpriced barge day, the permit that took a season.
Barlovento was built for these waters: four disciplines under one roof, a single standard of evidence, from the first feasibility question to the last supply run.
Two monsoon seasons — the northeast Iruvai and the southwest Hulhangu — govern sea states, construction windows and supply schedules across the country. Our planning accounts for both.
Services
Each practice is substantial in its own right; together they cover the full technical and commercial span of an island project. Decisions rest on data, designs rest on measurement, delivery carries them all.
Feasibility, regulatory pathways, transaction support and owner representation for capital entering the Maldives.
View services →Bathymetry, tides and metocean, dredge volumes and geophysical campaigns — evidence aligned to IHO S-44.
View services →Jetties, coastal protection, dredging and reclamation — designed and executed as contractor, or supervised as owner's engineer.
View services →Project cargo, chartering, inter-atoll supply lines and vessel agency — the archipelago's critical path, managed.
View services →Resort development
The archipelago's economy converges on one asset class: the island resort. Funds underwrite them, contractors build them, supply lines exist to serve them. Barlovento's services are organised around that lifecycle.

Advisory · Survey · EngineeringThe business case, the licensing pathway and the physical baseline data that environmental assessment and lenders require — sequenced as one critical path.
Advisory · SurveyJetties, overwater foundations, coastal protection, dredging and reclamation — engineered for coral substrate, monsoon exposure and the construction methods available in-country.
Survey · EngineeringMarine works and dredging delivered as contractor — or independently supervised as owner's engineer — with the project cargo, marine plant and crew logistics that keep the programme on schedule.
Survey · Engineering · LogisticsMarine works executed around a live guest operation, condition monitoring of coastal and marine assets, and the supply line that keeps an island running.
Engineering · LogisticsInvestors, contractors and institutions engage the same practices at the stages that concern them — a fund at acquisition, a dredging contractor during construction, an operator across the life of the asset.
Who we work with
Technical certainty at acquisition, credible capex at underwriting, an owner's engineer through delivery.
Marine assets kept measured, maintained and supplied — without interrupting a live guest operation.
Survey, engineering and advisory delivered to international reporting standards, in English, on time.
A single in-country counterpart: survey control, volumes, agency, crew, clearances and supply.

How we work
Hydrographic operations and deliverables aligned to IHO S-44, with documented survey control and uncertainty budgets.
QHSE framework built on ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 principles, from method statements to incident reporting.
Professional indemnity insurance appropriate to advisory, survey and engineering mandates.
English-language deliverables to international documentation standards — built for lenders, insurers and tribunals.
Maldivian licensing, counterpart network and ministry-level familiarity that international entrants cannot import.
On any project we act as consultant, engineer or contractor — the role fixed and disclosed from the outset. We never supervise or certify our own works.
Tell us where your project stands and which practices it requires. We respond with a clear scope, timeline and approach.
